I think this song i wrote is in either G minor or Bb major but im not really sure. I know what notes it uses but how would I determine whether its major or minor? Im mostly having trouble with it for improving a solo. ive been using Bb major pentatonic mostly but it doesnt sound right and i think its because i am used to improvising over a minor chord progression maybe? and its sounding like G minor? Could the chorus be minor and the verses be major of the two relative scales? I think i want to solo over the chorus but im not sure. It seems to sound alright when my phrases end on G and C but not usually Bb and then sometimes when i hit a D during the soloing it sounds out of key or just wrong. Im very confused haha.

Verse goes C major - F major - Bb Major - C Major using these chord shapes

e--8-------6-------------------------------------------------------
B--8---10--6----------------------------------------------------------
G--9---10--7--------------------------------------------------
D--10--10--8--------------------------------------------------
A--------------------------------------------------------
E----------------------------------------------------------------

chorus goes

e----------------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------------
G---//5-5-5---------3-3-3-3/7-7-5\3------------------------------
D---//5-5-5--3-3-3--3-3-3-3/7-7-5\3------------------------------
A---//3-3-3--3-3-3--1-1-1-1/5-5-3\1------------------------------
E------------1-1-1-----------------------------------------------

Yep, I'd go for the Fmajor pentatonic or Dminor pentatonic myself.

For that progression (C | F | Bb | C ) I would use C mixolydian. It is centered on C which is the V chord of F major. Another option would be to use C major pentatonic.
