I have a tube amp and i want a little more control over my distortion not necesarry more distortion.
So would it be a good idea to get a pedal? And any recommendation?

BOSS SD-1 I have it I love it. But it is a bit trebly if you want a less trebly OD/ Dist I'd go for the BOSS BD-2 Blues Driver
'11 Gibson LP Jr.
'07 Gretsch 5120
'69 Tele
'10 Godin 5th Ave. Kingpin
'03 Blueridge Dreadnought
'02 Custom Martin D-28
Premier Twin-8
Fender Hot Rod Dlx

You're a genius, man. BOSS is quite possibly the best effects pedal manufacturer out there. I have the BD-2 and it's amazing, if only I had an amp...

you quite possbly are the biggest idiot out there. Boss are far from the best.

threadstarter: do you mean you want a general tightening of your sound?

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

yeah ,thats basicly the idea. When i try a bit of metal i think i get to much distortion, Wel it isen't as focused as i should be.
And i have a H&K Switchblade Which . Which can control effect through midi, I'll have a look and let you in on more. Basicly a tube amp digitally controlled.

And i'll slip in another question: concerning wah pedal.Recommondation? Thing to watch out for?

.......no......

To threadstarter: I know exactly what you mean, however I cant think of any pedals that will assist you in that aside from prehaps a noisegate, other than that prehaps messing around with your amps eq might help.
TEEP!!! Oiiiiiiieeeeeeeyyy!!!!!!

well, a boss ds1 might do it for cheap- set the distortion to minimum, tone to taste, and level to taste... EDIT: some overdrives might do it too.

or a decimator noise gate.

basically try those if you can.

Thanks, i'll look into that. Next time i get to my music store i am just going to compare a few pedals and try that noise gate.

just to clarify, i mean use the ds1 or OD like that over your current distorted tone, not over the clean channel.

you may need to adjust your gain levels on the amp, those pedals will boost the gain a little, even with the gain/dist/drive on the pedal at minimum.

x2

I have one and it really adds the extra punch to my tone. Even with a modeling amp. Doesn't add alot of gain just smoothes out the sound a bit.

My amp died. It was a $40 solid state, but with my BD-2 I could replicate SRV's tone near perfectley. It goes to show the greatness of BOSS pedals.

Might not be exactly what your after but every guitar rig should have an Ibanez Ts-9.
That pedal is awesome.

^Yeah, that might be better than the bad monkey if you can afford it. But if you're on a budget the bad monkey will suffice.
