I'd like to tune a snare drum. I'm sure there are different tightnesses depending on the genre and so forth. Basically, I'd like a 'rock tuning.' If anyone could help with that, that'd be great. Thanks.
Don't take my word for it, but our drummer just hits the head near the bolt until it doesn't buzz. He's been playing for years so there may be more to it.
Thanks, I'll give that a try. Any other advice?
get a drum key and tighted it till it sounds good. You could use a chromatic tuner to try and get it to a note if you want.
Yeah, I have a drum key, but that doesn't really help.
Just fool around with the tightness of the top AND bottom - a tight top and medium bottom can sound cool
