Need pickup recomendations!!

I am using an MIA Double humbucker strat! I need two humbuckers that would work level out with my guitar's alder body. I would like to have yngwies sound. If you need any more information, ask questions here.

Budget: 200 U.S

Wow, way to be a dick. Seriously, get a life and stop using acronims (sp?). And to the guy above this a-hole, he wants the oppinion of 'shredders' not just everybody I think. So let him do what he wants.
Peace
I have nothing to put in here.

^^ Thanks, you actually hit the nail on the head. That's EXACTLY why I didnt put it in the Guitar building and customizing.

well, DiMarzio YJM pups which are basically modded HS-3s won't fit in if you have a slot for typical humbuckers. Anyway, changing the pups won't give you Yngwie's sound, it's more in your playing and touch. The only thing you can keep in mind, is that the DiMarzio YJM's are actually pretty low output pickups, something about greater clarity and a "glassier" touch at the expense of raw output (which IMO is not bad at all, I mean lookit the Seymour Duncan Hot Rails!)

I would suggest either a DiMarzio Air Norton and Tone Zone combo or perhaps the Evolution pups which Vai uses. Alternative you could check out some of the Bill Lawrence pups if you can get your hands on them, and if you're feeling adventurous, mix n match - my own axe is equipped with a Seymour Duncan JB Jr. in the neck and a DiMarzio Tone Zone in the bridge, and it positively sings...

^^ I was thinking about the Air Norton / Tone Zone combo. Also, for the "The pickups arent going to give you Yngwie's sound" I know, Ive been studying Yngwie's playing for almost a year now. How do you like the Seymour Duncan JB?

isn't the PAF Pro primarily a bridge pup?

No. If anything, it's more used in the neck - though it's widely used in both positions.

It's too bassy for a bridge pickup honestly. Rolling back the tone knob in the neck position will get you a nice Satch-like tone though.

But you're talking about a strat, right? I would avoid the PAF all together then since it can get muddy in mahogany and basswood guitars... I cant even imagine how bad it sounds in alder.

And it sounds absolutely great in basswood... What are you talking about?

Just speaking from personal expirience, thats all. I played a PAF Pro in the neck position of a Schecter Omen at the local shop I go to. It sounded like a muddy mess. Disappointing too, since I always wanted one in my basswood V.

Perhaps the pickup needed a height or pole height adjustment... I dunno. I'm just telling you what I heard.

Well, what amp did you play through? I can't comment on the guitar quality, because I haven't played any Schecter Omen guitars... But something tells me it wasn't too good...

Probably through a Peavy XXX combo. That's the amp I always plug into when I go to that shop. The amp is far from perfect, I know, but I dont recall any other times when I got a muddy tone through it.

And as far as the Schecter goes, it was a pretty nice guitar. I'm sure the pickup just wasn't set up properly. Or perhaps it just needs to run through an EQ. Who knows...
#20
Well yeah, EQ would have ****loads to do with it.

And on a side note... I've never sounded not muddy through an XXX combo

new 3 single coil strat faceplate=30$
YJM pickups= about 175$

seems to fit your budget. For wiring them, i cant help you as i have only wired emg 81/85s (V/V/T) myself and that shouldnt resemble putting in those. on a strat the knobs are V/T/T right? thats how it is on my fat stratt ive never mixed that around.
