I am learning the minor pentatonic scales and am a little confused about the roots. For example if you want to play in the C key(?) the whole fretboard do you simply find the C note in each "box"and start playing from that note?
If by "box" you mean "fret", then yes. A C scale starts and ends with a C...at least on this planet.

no, the box is the pattern and there are five patterns or boxes in the minor pentatonic scale. Also is the C note in the box (pattern) considered the root if your talking in terms of playing in C?

Or in other words are there only roots of A in each pattern or are there roots of each A C D G E in each box(pattern)
