Okay peps, my dad finally broke down and said we would do a wormoth Mustang, because it was cheaper and he's been looking for something to do with me as a father/son thingy.

We will be using the swamp ash body for (180$USD) and warmoth 'stang parts. The pickups are yet to be decided, though I am going for singles. So advise on the Pups would be nice.

The color is undecided, thouh I plan to paint it either Lake Placid blue or the weridist color I can find. I plan to use a Birdseye Maple warmoth neck with maple finger/fret board.

Sound good? Any advise would be killer.

Cream colored P 90's with the Lake Placid or Surf Green would work killer.

Hmm, P90's? Would that sound good? I play a mix of Placebo style stuff and Old School Punk and Grunge, with some RHCP style funk thrown in, but nothing real heavy, just the ocasional metallica song.

It's SWAMP ASH!!! Paint it a translucent color after bringing out the grain.

Otherwise, get an Alder body if you want to paint it Lake Placid Blue, which is an excellent color, BTW. Or Surf Green!!!

Then make a Jaguar ... so it's a set!!! Same specs.

You mean Jazzmaster? Jag's had standered Singles. I have yet to find a JAg or Jazz-M Body I truly feel comfortable playing, the mustang feels better. I prefer swamp ash to adler because of the weight and sound, not looks. Maybe a kinda surf-green translucent burst? Or just translucent surf green?

grain fill the entire body...mask off a design (stripes, etc) and spray the lake placid blue then peel off the masking tape and give the whole thing a clear coat... just a suggestion for a paint job

For pickups consider Lindy Fralins. Excellent pickups.

Nice Zekk, you could check out GFS pickups at guitar fetish, they have low prices and great sound...

I like where this is going, I very much second SURF GREEN!! It's not that common besides a few strats here and there and would look pretty awesome on a mustang.
#11
Okay, could I get surf green from stew-mac?

My cousin has a Surf Green Mustang. It looks so good! Especially with the matching headstock! You are awarwee that Warmoth now has their own specialised Mustang bridge; you might wanna try that out

EDIT:
In my local store, I've noticed the Apple Green sprays look hell as identical to Surf green; but I'm not so sure...
#14
How would I get surf green? Green mixed with a little blue?

Unless you want to be poor, don't buy everything from warmoth. Warmoth just uses their reputation to overcharge you. Like Marshall... and their MG's.

okay. Warmoth has a way of fucking people over.

Are you gonna do locking tuners, a rolling bridge, or some combination (or something else)?

Well, my DAD only wants to but from one or two places, so its not so confusing. Im going to have locking tuners, but that the hell is a rolling bridge?

it's a regular tune-o-matic except where the adjustable angled pieces (not sure what they're called) there are little wheels.

example.

So a GFS would be the best budget? Money isn't REALLY an issue, but my dad reallys wnats to kinda get the bang-for-buck from the parts we get.

*Da bump* Again I ask which pickups? GFS? OR should I shell out the extra hundred for a set of Lady Frilins? Or should I get something like a set of barenuckles?

The Fralins are a different world than the GFS, not that the GFS are bad, nice for being so cheap. In the same camp as Fralins I would also add Rio Grande, Joe Barden, and Kinman, all of which are tone kings.

For my build I will get GFS (retrotons but they are buckers), go to guitarfetish and check out some soundcilps... your tonewood is from warmoth so its good and I suppose you have a good amp too so your sound will probably end up being really nice.... although i advise not getting the clearence section pups....

Although if you can open your wallet to get rid of 150 bucks without any hassle just to have a famous name on top of your pups why not?

Go with the GFS Alnico Hot staggered set for around $55. If you don't like them they're cheap and you can always change out later.
