i know wut a distortion pedal is, but idk wut an overdrive pedal is? wuts the difference and which one should i get, i have a vox valvetronix ad30vt
overdrive is pretty bad @$$. jimmy page uses overdrive if you ever heard him. i prefer overdrive over any kind of distortion
lol of course ive heard of jimmy page, could someone give me a more detailed explanation though
Don't run an overdrive through your amp, theres no point. Overdrives are to push the power tubes in your amp harder, and you have none. Distortion clips the signal and it doesn't really matter about the ampflication. Get a distortion and run it through the clean channel.
Yeah, maybe some other kind of pedal like a MXR Micro Amp
i still dont know what overdrive is :$..whats the difference between distortion and overdrive
dude..there are waaaaaaaaay too many threads on that. Use the search button
ok im tihnkin about getting either ds-1 or ds-2 im tihnkin about goin with the ds 2 what do u guys think
Overdrive has smoother distortion than a distortion pedal, better for blues and soft rock. Distortion is better for rock to punk.
ok so i want a distortion pedal then, but which one should i get?
Start off by looking at the Boss DS-1 or 2. Look at the new "Official Pedals Thread" for more suggestions
Pedals don't go well with modelling amps like the Vox.
^And the Vox has good enough distortion by itself.
that pink queen, so far all my pedals have worked with the amp just fine, ive heard that effects dont go good with modelling amps but i guess my amp is fine with them, yes i was looking into the ds 1 or ds2 but idk which one would be better
I'm not sure you really need a pedal in the first place. The distortion on you amp should be just fine. I wouldn't get it just because you can.
i do like the distortion on my amp, but i want something a lil more high gainish
