I'm sure there's a wealth of information on this somewhere, but I don't know where, so I thought I'd ask the experts here. I have a nice tone with my amp, but when it gets recorded, it's lower quality and too distorted and just sounds too amatuerish. I know I should turn the distortion down and I'll get better results, but does anyone have advice for recording a distorted guitar in general. Any tips would be great or links to informative sites.

you could try the search box.

use a microphone and a quality interface and preamps.
