I like switchin it up by throwing some major scale stuff in the middle of pentatonic/blues scale licks, it sounds awesome.

a pentatonic with a b5.

here is the scale i play the blues over i think it includes the b5 and an added note out of the scale which is an F#.

e|------------------------5-8-------|
B|-------------------5-7-8----------|
G|--------------5-7-8---------------|
D|---------4-5-7--------------------|
A|----5-6-7-------------------------|
E|-5-8------------------------------|

I sometimes use this, only I add a B as well.

I like to screw around and throw bits of the chromatic and phrygian scales into the typical blues scale. Sounds really cool when done sparingly.

uhhh, those are some interesting choices. I'm intrested in seeing those applied to a bluesy format.
