So, I went to Guitar Center Saturday looking for a Fender MIA '57 Reissue Strat. They had one used for $800 they said was a 2001, so I bought it. When they brought the case for it it was really old looking and the instruction manual inside looked extremely out of date. So I got it home took off the neck and saw that it was built on 1/13/83, which of course makes it worth more than $800. Has anyone else had this happen to them? i would hve thought these people would know to check the dates on guitars

I don't know, the 80's weren't the Strats best years. $800 seems fair.

The reissues were good from that year. The standards sucked. They cut so many costs including having only 3 neck bolts. But '82 and '83 were the first years for the '57 and '62 reissues. I've seen it sell online for about 3x that price.
