I'd say Paul Gilbert, things like dynamics and live performances considered.

And of course Guthrie Govan as well.
He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt.
He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice.

Sadly, not Becker.

I'd say Gilbert, and also probably Malmsteen and Batio, they're quite clean.

he was until recently, but hes getting less fat and drunk every day now.

From what ive seen, Vai is the cleanest live. I saw a live video from building the church and it was great.

What are you basing this on?

Odd, you'd think that after he'd played the song flawlessly, then playing it 1000 more times, that he'd improve....

I know this is a bit skewed, but I just want him and others to see that Mr. Fury is not "by far" the cleanest.

Though far cleaner than this thread would lead people to believe he is...

hey, im a yngwie fan and i thought the bands S/T album was an awesome album. Not to mentinon the guy helped create neoclassical and made sweep picking popular. I like him, its just that its lame to see him in a cleanest guitarists thread when many people could blow him out of the water.

That's true, but when I saw him live last year he was spot-on, pulling off everything right down to the smallest detail while bouncing around like a donkey, so hey...

yeah, it's odd

when I saw him in May, I don't think I've ever seen cleaner, smoother 5-string sweeps (and like 3 in a row too!)

I honestly recount this with no deviation/bias what-so-ever.

But just the same, there are obviously cleaner guitarists than him, most of them already mentioned

Yup, same here. Throwin picks out, running back and forth, waving to the crowd while doin nice legato runs. It was great. Like people said though I'm sure there's cleaner.

I havent seen much of him, but Govan is nasty, he should be up there...also, I dont think petrucci is the cleanest live at all, his fastest stuff is trem picked runs that get sloppy from time to time and from what I've seen his live sweeps aren't nearly as polished as his studio stuff.

vai and glibert should be up there as well
#34
Hummm... probably Vai, and Gilbert.

Michael Romeo
he's a machine

heh, here you can see for yourself who has clean chops & who's a slob
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaqjK2ByveM

cleanest: Romeo,Malmsteen & Kiko (though he doesn't do any picking in this video but just search for some of his stuff)

the sloppiest purpetraters??
Gilbert,Petrucci & Lynch...add Stump in there even though he's not even in the video haha

heard alot of malmsteen but he's quite sloppy. He has alot of energy behind it but is stil sloppy. Gilbert is good and clean and one of the best but then you have vai. Vai has one of the nicest sweeping technique i've heard even if you slow it down you hear he really hits every note even. Vai has most control on a guitar if you see what he comes up with every time and how perfect it is. He's a machine.
