I was thinking configuring a couple of amps for my sound (which I will achieve later, when I'm settled with a beautiful wife, enough kids, and one fat juicy paycheck every hour)

(All of these are linked to form a clean - rhythm - lead config, unless stated)

1. Fender Twin Reverb - Peavey 5150 II - Marshall JCM 800 2203

2. Matchless DC30 - Bogner Uberschall - Dumble ODS

3. Roland JC 120 - Mesa Dual Recto - Marshall JCM 800 2203

4. Fender Twin Reverb - Mesa Dual Recto - Laney GH100L

5. Peavey 5150 II (rhythm) - Vox AC30 (clean and lead)

6. CAE SE preamp - VHT 2902 power amp

7. ADA MP1 preamp (I'm such a shred fan) - Mesa 50/50 power amp

Or just any of the single amps above.........
Tone is all ...... well probably 75%, in your fingers.
The rest depends on your wallet's thickness !!

Keep the faith, baby!!

Fender Twin Reverb - Mesa Dual Recto - Marshall JCM 800 2203
I know it's not listed, but it's the best!
strat player forever.

There is no "best." Personally, if I could only go with three amps, I'd do:

Mesa/Boogie Lone Star Special for cleans and clipped blues -- Vox AC30 also for cleans and crunchy rhythm tones -- Boogie Mark IV for heavier crunch/balls to the wall distortion

^Even better than the options above.

Mine would be Fender Bassman for cleans, Mark IV for rhythm, and probably a Powerball for leads.

Planning on winning the lottery?

This is such a subjective and personal choice that asking us to pick an amp, not to mention a combination of them, is a bit ridiculous. If you were asking what we'd choose, I would have to say two AC30s and a twin reverb.

6. CAE SE preamp - VHT 2902 power amp

Those all look like great setups, but those Suhr designed SE preamps are fantastic units, one of the best cleans I've heard, bar none, and I'm a Fender man at heart. Then you could just add more preamps to suit your taste for dirty sounds. Maybe a Recto pre or Triaxis for some rectifier and Mark tones, a JMP1 for Marshall sounds, and maybe even another Mesa power amp like a Simulclass to run some crazy combinations. Then you would have one rack case with a cab instead of lugging around 3 amps too.

I would take:

AC30---> Mesa Dual Rect---> early JCM800 2203

*you better start saving now

@mr.ped's left nut

I hate EQing for hours just for a tone, those hours should be spent on sweep arpeggiating not knob-turning !!

So that's why I've chosen the Marshall which has a single channel, more balls, less bs

yea, but I doubt I'll buy one any time soon. I'm thinking about buying a new acoustic I will have the rest of my life, and my dream acoustic is a Martin D-28 which will cost around $2000 US new and much more for vintage. My eyes are open though. *just got a good idea* maybe I'll use my tax return money next year to buy a D-28 ....hmmm
