Hey guys, I'm going to come into a bit of cash in the next month and I want to take my rig to the next level. I've chosen the amp I'm going to buy (the ENGL Screamer 50) and I want a lovely expensive guitar to go with it I've picked out a few guitars, and I'd like some advice on which to get. I want something that's very easy to play and of insanely high quality. I play mostly metal, from Iron Maiden to Trivium, Firewind, Galneryus, Children Of Bodom etc but I would like a thick sounding neck pickup for leads, something like Dave Murray's lead sound. Any help would be much appreciated

P.S. If you can think of another guitar that would fit this description, feel free to throw it out there

Nah, no trem for this one. My RG can cope with that.
I want one with no "upper horn", so no RG's or strat shapes etc.
As long as it's not too heavy, and sounds good, I dont care what wood it's made of
I want a cool shape, so Jacksons and ESPs come to mind but really any brand is fine

ESP Les Paul. It owns like a gibson and the price is less, obviously. It's used my Anto-Falg And Nofx and a few other metal bands.

I'd say the first one would be very good. also check this one out

Ok I really want great access to the higher frets, so no les pauls or anything that blocks your hand or inhibits your reach. Sorry, no Deans either cos I can't try any of them out over here. Also, the ones I like the look of either have crappy liscensed trems or Dimebuckers.

I really don't want a trem, especially not a liscensed one (well alright, Edge Pro would be ok). I just want a T-o-M bridge, something easy to use/change strings/tune/intonate. And I can't try any Deans out here, so I'm not risking it.

Yo wassup, I'm trying to expand my musical horizons if you know what I mean, so can anybody reccomend me some cool Juggalo jazz?

I'd pick the first one, the ESP EX-400. I've already played the LTD version of that one, the LTD EX-400, and loved it. It has the warm tone you're looking for and is great for rhythm too, and it's ESP so it'll even be better than that LTD.

Well, I'm going to have a lot of cash so I thought I might as well go for ESPs instead of LTDs. The Standard is pretty much identical to the 400, but is made by luthiers not machines.

If you really want INSANE jawdropping quality, playability and tone this is the
one to get:

http://alembic.stores.yahoo.net/further2.html

That one's about $8,000. I'm sure the one's you listed are nice, but I doubt
they're in the same class.

There's also this one:

http://alembic.stores.yahoo.net/customorion.html

$7500 from some place in Norway.

or this:

or this:

or this:

Maybe none your style, but they'll make anything you want in a fairly reasonable
time frame -- assuming you have gobs of cash You'd be hard put to find a
nicer guitar anywhere else.

The ESP LP shapes have amazing upper fret access. And way faster necks than Les pauls. They're fantastic

How about an SG? Great access to higher frets and overall great guitar.

+1 That's what I was going to say.

Or a Les Paul double cut-away. Essentially a Les Paul with the bottom cut out for access to the high frets.

First off guys, that an ESP EX Standard, not an LTD EX-400. The ESP isn't available in the US, but is in Europe. And if I had the cash to spend, I'll take the ESP over the LTD any day.

As for which if these guitars to get, I think the DV8 has probably the easiest upper fret access. I'm personally not big on sig guitars, but that one would be the best for the application. But in terms of being top-notch guitars, all 3 are excellent and it all depends on which you like best.

As for the ESP Eclipse, it does have a much more contoured neck joint than a standard Gibson, making upper frets a lot easier to reach.

He doesn't want a double cut. But I agree, SGs and Vipers are awesome

Gibsons have Tom Bridges, get a Sg, it better action than a les pual.

check out Dean guitars, they make some cool shapes.

If you can wait a while order something from the ESP Custom Shop, Gibson Custom Shop, Fender Custom Shop...but I would recommend the Parker Fly without the trem...BEST guitar I've ever played, oh also be sure to get the one with the Duncans...that thing's a beast, and it has the fastest neck I've ever played.

DV8 is the best, but if you don't wanna buy spend THAT much, the EX Standard is pretty FTW too.
haha

Cool, thanks a lot for the help guys. I'm gonna try them out next time I'm in Glasgow and make my final decision. Looks like either the EX STD or the DV8
