OK my sisters birthday is 2morrow and shes been into the misfits lately but dosent have any of their albums. I like what Ive heard from them but Im not farmiliar with their albums. Which one should I get for her?

Static Age or Earth AD.

Static Age is more in the style of 77' punk with better recording quality.

Earth AD is faster and more like thrash punk but has worse recording, but is awesome in it's own right.

i dont understand why everyone bashes famous monsters. its no static age but its a decent album and one of my favourites.

The only reason I said to get the box set is because it has everything from the original Misfits except American Nightmare on it. Don't know why they left that one off. But that way, you don't need anything else except the Graves era stuff.

I like both bands just as much as the other. Samhain is sometimes harder to find.

Cause its not the Misfits. Misfits = Danzig, not Jerry Only singing. They shouldve changed their name, instead of Jerry's ruining the band.

Ok, i don't quite understand peoples boggle with The Misfits, I think they are quality... but anyway , lets not start another crappy argument about whether or not they are good.

I would get Static Age, it is their best in my opinion.
There is poetry in despair.

earth ad is great, but they have the collection cd's and if ur willing to spend around $60, the coffin box set is deffly the way to go, i think its a pin a patch, 4 cd's(2 of which are the collections vol.1 and vol.2), and a lyrics book

Everyone keeps saying the same things so just get all of them if you have the means to do so.

Personally, I'd go with Static Age seeing as how it's the only one I've heard/own.

I'm a fool for not owning anything else since they're probably one of my favorite bands.

Get Static age...i'm sure your sister would be happy with it because it is...in my opinion...their best album

I used to listen to the Misfits all the time about two years ago, it was friggin' awesome.

Personally, I'd go for the two Collection CDs because, unfortunately, there is some chaff that needs separating out from the wheaty goodness of most Misfits records. The most consistent album is Walk Among Us, but then you don't get classics like Bullett.

As far as the new stuff goes, if you're willing to forget that they were once the Danzig fronted punk band (or just don't care), Famous Monsters is a great time. Helena is a great song. I forget the name of the one that preceded that, but it had Dig Up Her Bones on, and that was great too.

However, the Nutley Brass CD is obviously ****e.

That actually has some cool songs on it. They cover the Damned, UK Subs, Johnny Thunders/New York Dolls, the Stooges, the Dead Boys, Joan Jett/the Runaways, FEAR, and of course the Misfits. If she wants a Misfits album though, definitely get Static Age, just for Hybrid Moments.
#33
If you want the Danzig era Misfits then get Walk Among Us, aswell as Static Age.

And although Famous Monsters sounds NOTHING like old Misfits its still such a good album, seriously underrated in my opinion. Mike Graves has an incredible range and Famous Monsters has some really good songs on there such as, Scream, Saturday Night, Helena etc.

I first heard that song in middle school, im out of school now, but i still get the same great rush of adrenaline listening to that album after so many years.

Frighteningly bad cd. At least it may have got some of their fans into punk instead.

If your sister likes the Misfits, chances are she will know the difference between the 2 singers.Ask her which era she would prefer.I personally dont like the Graves era too much, but i'm not the one you're buying the album for.Unless you dont kwant her to know you're buying her a Misfits cd,then just go with whatever era you think she would like more. Some one had to state the obvious.
#38
Dont know bout everyone else but I like Static Age and Legacy of Brutality...
