Anyone who has seen Zakk Wylde play has most likely seen his infamous Confederate Flag Les Paul with all of those bottle caps and crap on it. Well, if you guys didn't know, it wasn't originally like that. This is (the one at the top) is what it used to look like and this is what it looks like now. Apparently, he set it on fire a few times and put a sh*tload of beer bottle caps on it.

Wow. You know you've made it when you can take a top quality gibson and put bottle caps in it.

Zakk is awesome though.

what happened was he painted the guitar with a confederate flag, and one of the guys on the road with him told him the guy from Poison had the same guitar. Obviously, he didn't wan the same lookin guitar, so the band set it on fire and ****ed it up.

anyone notice the two guitars arnt the same?

like the burned one has square inlays and an inlay on the first fret, and it also has that wierd dimond/block thing on the head stock. see:

where as the unburned one has trapoizoid inlays, nothing on the head stock, and the inlays start at the third fret.

#14
volume knobs are different as well. no inlay on second one, and the paint job is a bit different

it was obviously just used as an example

yeah the unburned one is a replica. But that is pretty much what it looked like, in terms of the basic paint job. I have a picture of the original one unburned somewhere.

Because this is breaking news.

I heard it was Ozzy & the crew who lit the guitar on fire, not Zakk himself. But he did nail the bottle caps in, with roofing nails.

I think that guitar is gorgeous.

they had an article on zakk in a guitar player magazine a while back. in it, he talked a little about that guitar

Wow. It must really be nice to have so little respect for a musical instrument that you'd burn it and hammer bottlecaps into it. Especially a musical instrument that costs thousands of dollars.

The one on the celebrity rock stars site looks like a Studio, Zakk's is a Custom.

Zakk Wylde is the greatest dude ever to live! That guitar gives me the best idea for my new modding project; a Zakk Wylde themed guitar.

The Straight Facts:
Ozzy and the band set it on fire to mock Zakk during his major 'redneck' phase.
Ozzy "Let's torch the bastard thing!"
Zakk got hammered, decided to nail leftover brew caps on with FINISHING NAILS
"I used finishing nails, not roofing nails which would split the damn thing"
Ed Roman made a copy using a LP Studio, not a Custom, which the original Rebel is

The only thing that keeps me from being disgusted is my complete loathing for the conflict that flag reminds me of.
#27
how is a flag bad in itself, it didn't stand for anything except the confederate states, not slavery or anything, teh war wasn't even started over slavery, they states left the union mostly because they didn't like the fact that lincoln was going to be president

You sir get my chuckle of the day. I appreciate your use of the word 'beardier.' Excellent work. You get a gold star.

I think it's pretty neat. A guitar with a story is cool. Plus, when you're Zakk, you can have a butt ton of guitars and a few that you've trashed.
#30
The inlays are different because the Gibson Replica of what it used to look like is a standard, and Zakk's is a custom. From what I heard, he saw someone with a confederate flag LP, so he hammered bottle caps into his.

Ed is probably one of the most insightful guys in the guitar biz...it's refreshing to hear a few original opinions and a few facts mixed into this "Gibson/Fender/PRS/Marshall/Mesa is God" guitar world we have today.

Sorry if you don't agree, but that's what makes free speech what it is.
