just asking for peoples opinion....wat do you think is a better wood for basses agathis or alder??
#3
well, it's not just the wood type. It's the quality of the wood.

having said that... as a general rule agathis > alder.

haha, just wondering if my Squier weighs around 10KG or 22 pounds, would you say that's agathis or alder?
#6
^Theres no way your Squire weighs 22lbs. Also, you got the rule backwards, Forcemaster. Generally Alder > Agathis.

My rule is:

Any African wood > Koa > Ash > Alder > Agathis

I'm old-fashioned...but Ash and Alder just seem so much brighter!

you forgot... Any African wood > Koa > Ash > Alder > Agathis>random wood>>>>>>>>>>>plywood

alder is better than agathis. agathis has kind of an empty tone so to speak.
