So I was going to line my guitar amp to my computer's Line-In and the strangest thing happened. Lining the guitar straight to computer gave sound but, obviously, no distortion. Lining the amp gave no sound at all when plugged all the way into the "Headphone"-jack but if I pull it out a little there is sound but a LOT of buzz. What could be the problem?

Putting a standard guitar lead into a headphone jack is putting an Tip-Sleeve plug into a Tip-Ring-Sleeve jack, the result is signal being sent down the shielding of the lead creating a lot of noise. If you're going straight into your computers line in, it's likely to be a stereo input, so hunt down a stereo lead and that should help, if not, something in the amp/computer line-in is cactus.

The thing is that I only get a signal when the cable isn't completely plugged in. When it's completely plugged in I get total silence.
