*****core Brutal death band, Sven from Aborted has joined them a day or two ago.

Dissonant Prog/death band, pretty cool bassist.

Eternal Gray Death metal, the drummer turned 19 this year.

Excessum Death/thrash, kinda melodic-ish.

Arafel Folkish black, guitarist kicks ass.

and I think I've seen Bishop of Hexen mentioned here a few times too.
Dyer's Eve is awesome, and has an abnormally large penis, which doesn't act as any hinderance to his everyday life despite its freakishly large size.
For unrivaled obedience, user King_ofKumbucha is awarded this spot of honor.

You know a music scene is fucked up when it becomes difficult to keep track of who killed who, who committed suicide and who alledgedly engaged in cannibalism.

San Antonio = 3.5+ hour drive and therefore =/= "next door"

Besides, if we're counting San Antonio, you missed motherfuckin Thornspawn, and every band from Austin.

Other Houston notables:

Adumus
To Scale the Throne
Braced For Nails
Viral Load
Cerebral Rot
Gates of Enoch
Nodens
Monuments To Sorrow

There's a few local bands around here - weird "death" metal bands called things like Cannibal Corpse (what the hell is that about?) and Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal (yeah, okay ), Monstrosity, Deicide (oooohhh, how clever. pfft. ) things like that. I don't know how these bands plan on going anywhere with their careers.

From my immediate surroundings:

Pandemonium: www.pandemonium-metal.com
Edge of a Circle: http://www.edgeofacircle.tk/ (not updated since WWII or something)
Feared Creation: http://www.fearedcreation.tk/
Nae'Blis: http://www.naeblis.cjb.net/

Broken Dagger: http://www.broken-dagger.com/
Trymheim: http://www.trymheim.cjb.net/
Bodycore: http://www.myspace.com/bodycore

And those are bands from close to my city, not stuff that's 3.5 hours drive away.

Only good bands in Bulgaria of which most/none of them are metal:

Artery - nu-metalish/rock/with Eastern music elements

Lost Hope - hardcore

Suffer H - like Early Fear Factory without the clean vocals

Gravity Co. - Dark Wave/alt rock

This is the horrible music 90% of people in Bulgaria listen to:

I actually prefer rap to this crap
