Hi guys.

I have $600 to spend on a new guitar.

I like playing alot of different musical genres, indie, rock, hard rock, blues, a bit of grunge music etc...My Strat can handle blues though so blues isn't a necessity.

Was basically looking for a guitar for under $600 that could play a lot of different musical genres, that is nice to play clean, but with decent distortion, for lead and Rhythm roles.

Please don't say "You need a new amp" because I know this, I will be getting one soon but I am getting the guitar first.

Hmmm....a tough one there, tbh I'd go for a US Fat strat. I know it's like what you've got but pretty much it's what you want i think...or an Epi Les Paul of some kind, but i Never recommend those...

Do you use a trem?
If not a good Les Paul copy sounds like it will do the job.
Someone posted a link for a Agile Les Paul which looked good for the money.

I don't use a trem, no.

And I think a US Fat Strat is above my price range. A MIM Fat Strat is $700 ish.

Have a look for one of those Agile Les Pauls then.
There supposed to be good.

What about a schecter, there okay for the money. I played a BlackJack at the weekend
and it was pretty good. STring thru so no trem, Seymour Duncan pickups.

England =)

A Fat MIM Strat is £350 cheapest I can find, and £1.00 = $1.90 so it's closer to $670 but that's still over my budget.

You know a standard strat would prob do it as well....the humbucker is really for more metally things, and they come routed for hum anyway so you could change it later on...

Still above my price range though =).

I didn't want another (SSS) strat. They don't really give me enough gain and I wanted something that could give me a bit more.

Take a visit to Sound Control, they've got a vast selection and try a few out. Get a list of a few you like then do a search on the web about any reviews on the guitars.

Custom is a bit expensive. Standard looks within my price range though.

I can't find the Agiles anywhere but on Rondomusic...

The prices on their online store are very high!

Would it be worth going there, trying a load out, then buying online to save what £100?

Or is assurance of knowing the exact guitar you are buying worth that much?

Don't know if I can be bothered with changing the parts yet.

Just wanted one I could play out of the box, and possibly upgrade in the future.
