so here's my bass:

and here's what i plan on doing:
under the current pickups i was planning on putting a jazz-bass style pickup. good idea? and once i get the money, better tuners, cause these are worn out, probably not meant for the 2 1/2 years theyve been used for.... any suggestions for what kind of tuners for under $100 i should use?

Personally i wouldnt bother. You are going to spend money on gear to upgrade a crap bass. just save up a bit longer and buy a decent bass..

But instead of buying a new one and having to buy new stuff for that he could just spend the money and make this one good.

Yes, i realise he can do that. BUt the neck will still be ****, the wood will still be **** etc....... Why bother? Just save up a bit more and you can have a good bass. not a **** bass with good parts. When you see someone driving a booted up Skoda, you wonder why they didnt spend that £5k on a better car. Or at least i do !

This is just my opinion of course, you can do what you want !
