this is a really bizarre method for getting some weird effects but give it a go...
try tuning all the string to the same pitch EG

EEEEEE
AAAAAA
DDDDDD

etc, etc.

I like to tune the sixth string an octave below the fifth sometimes. That gives some interesting sounds, especially in D standard (GGCFAD), and it's simple enough to tune to.
