Not of the forum, of the genre.

Who do you think is the most talented person in Alt/Indie? In terms of instrumentals, creativity, writing, vocals, all that jibjab.

Jibjab can be a word.

yeah.

Personally, i think Jack White has it. I'm not sure about his vocals, but he's a great guitarist and lyricist, and he has came up with some pretty great songs.

One of my favorite musicians.

I dont really like either of these bands but...The Mars Volta and Thom Yorke (Radiohead) are pretty effin creative. I mean it takes a lot 2 compose w/ 8 people in your band (TMV) and radiohead j/ goes really deep into their music.

Johnny Greenwood (Radiohead).

Other candidates include Johnny Marr, Billy Corgan and some other people.

I'd call MM indie, they defined a whole generation of indie musicians.

Him and Jeff Buckley were people I was thinking when I said "some others".

Spencer Krug is working his way up. Between Frog Eyes, Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, and soon Swan Lake (his new band with Dan Bejar and Carey Mercer), he'll rule indie music eventually..
#10
Mike Watt by far. The guy did/is doing so much for alternative music. It's a shame he doesn't get more credit for it.

oh i thought this thread would be about andrewbiles.

um thom yorke.

I was gonna say Conor Oberst as one of my options, but I thought people would throw rocks at me. Also, he doesn't really compare to the rest in the list I gave.

The Mars Volta, whether Cedric or Omar, is amazing. In every way.
you tell me who's better. i think good charlote are better than the bealtes but that's only because their lyrics mean more and they are better musicians.

Bob Mould/ Grant Hart

uh, lets see, Elliott Smith, Yorke, Ben Gibbard, Lou Reed (now that I think about it, he was definitely a vital part in the evolution of indie), Gordan Gano, and I think I'll go out on a limb and say Leonard Cohen {not really because of his own sound but because of the inspiration he gave many alt/indie muscicians}
