I've just found some info about the Lee Jackson Perfect Connection GP-1000 preamp and from what people say it sounds "marshally" and midrange, so it's apt for playing metal of '80. I've never heard of it before but as Zakk used to use it, I think it is a very good preamp. At the same time, the Marshall JMP-1 sounds "marshally" too, but the price is too high for me. So can you tell me how much the two preamps have in common or how different the are. And I also bought an ADA MP-1 and she's no her way to me now, and may be it was a premature to buy the ADA, while I never heard of Lee Jackson Perfect Connection, wasn't it? Or may be it's better to save my money for the JMP-1, right? So what do you think?

I prefer the ADA to the JMP1 when i tried one when they first came out (JMP), but I haven't tried a JMP lately.

What power amp are you going match it with.

Never heard of that Lee Jackson thing.

Yeah man. its pretty sweet.

You can't change the sound much, and its basically one channel at a time; though it technically has two channels.

I have one of Alexi's old preamps, and of course he kept the legendary one he has with the missing knobs.
lol

Be sure you get the Marshall esque pre, and not the Fender one.

(1/4 inputs for marshall, XLR for Fender I believe)

Let me know if I can give you anymore information.

hmm I would see how you get on with the ADA before you get one of these.
Many more people used them.

What power amp are you using again?

They say the Lee Jackson GP-1000 takes after the JCM800 very much.

Here's the guide.

Hre's Zakk playing the Lee Jackson GP-1000

It's my favourite album by all Ozzy and this fact drew my attention to this preamp and I can buy it right now for $400, though I have the ADA (coming to me)

So how much the ADA MP-1 or Marshall JMP1?

They had two versions though.. the original took after fender's.
then due to popular demand they made a Marshall type one.
Trust me man..

Indeed.
he has another one, but Idk if he is selling.
and you'd have to talk to him about it.

the one I have isn't the one he used on the recordings, but he used it live a few times, and at practice.

Bought from a roadie personally

well.. ADA if you want more than one sound or midi or something.

haha, the LJ really doesnt do **** except that one sound it kicks ass at

I'm going to use it trough the loop of my EL34 tube Torque VS50. A rack poweramp will come later as I find a used one that goes on 220V AC-DC. So I can hardly go to eBay to win one. Anyway, I paid $250 for the ADA and the LJ GP-1000 will cost $400. And a guy here is offering a Roctron Piranha for $500. He says it's alsa like a JCM800, but more agressive. I got the ADA because it first was cheap and also I heard of neither the Piranha nor Lee Jackson Perfect Connection names.

The high gain tone of the ADA is similar to a hot rodded JCM Marshall which is what I presume the Lee Jackson Emulates.

Go here for some more information www.adadepot.com.

Up to you if you want to buy the LJ as well. The ADA sounds more versatile than the LJ.
It has three voicing's (channels) Solid State (Like Roland JC120), Clean Tube (Fender type tube tones) Dist Tube (High Gain, Marshall type tones) each of which can be assigned to 128 presets which are midi controllable.

See how you get on with it, probably best if you run it through the return of your loop.

It did'nt when it was new, it was £750.00 in the uk!

There's alot of people who dont know about these units (Noobs etc) thats changing though, the prices are going up, you used to be able to get one second hand for under £100 on ebay but there now going for £150.00 plus, the modded ones for alot more. Some guy had a 3 tube modded MP1 for $850.00 buy it now on ebay and I think he sold it!!

Indeed.
there are some good mods that make it sound better, but its worth it for the low price.

and the LJ GP1000 is a LITTLE bit thicker, or fuller sounding to me at the marshall thing than the ADA, but the ADA will be fine for you buddy.

EDIT: then again.. thats through a good poweramp

Hah, my aim is pragmatic, sicnce I'm not a billioner, I look for just a good vintage preamp. Or maybe a modern one, but they are made in China now, so I wouldn't trust. Here are plenny of Chenese cheap products that have a one day life cycle, but good Chinese products are never imported, becase there are alot cheap ones that look the same (not feel though). Just crazy, but that is so.

Mhmm.
very true.

the ****ers even have a site now.
its like
www.replicaguitars.com

HAHAHA.
all the Les Pauls have the Zakk Wylde logo... except the Zakk Wylde one =]

Lee Jackson.....

I'll stick with the JMP on this one.
Tone is all ...... well probably 75%, in your fingers.
The rest depends on your wallet's thickness !!

Keep the faith, baby!!
