Can someone tell me some good alternate tunings? How to do them by finger and not chromatic tuner? Just manually like relative tuning or something. And can someone explain to me the pattern. For example a whole step is D G C F A D << How would I arrive at that by relative tuning and what is the secret to understanding how to do it with any tuning...say you were just to name an alternative tuning pattern of the top of your head and I've never done it before... how would I go about doing it by understanding the neck of the guitar and its patterns?

well if you wanna get to d standard, you can always tune it to drop d, which is fairly easy to do, and then tune it to standard d from there.
