hey,iv always had an eye on a B.C.RICH warlock. They look really nice and my friend has a £200 one and he says its really good.

However,iv heard a lot of people on UG that Warlocks are really bad and should only cost £5.

Why do UG'ers hate B.C.RICH so much, and is it worth gettin one?

And if it turns out they are good, wud any1 in the UK near london want to trade it or sell one for a squire or a epiphone flying v?

Well, their low-end models are made of agathis, which is, like half a step above plywood, and they tend to bee poorly built.

The more expensive ones are better, but they're more expensive than equivalent guitars from other makers, so we tend to ignore them.
#4
tbh if your looking to spend 200 quid on a guitar, id get something middle of the road like a strat or a les paul, that way, once you know which direction u wana send your playing and you know more about guitars in general, u can specialise to the specific genre u wana play when u upgrade. I suggest spending about 400-500 quid on a second guitar coz it will probs last awhile.
#5
agathis isnt as bad as people make it out to be i've played guitars which sound ok with it however bc riches suck pretty much new. Used you can pick up some bargains on the usa ones but they look very 80s but then again so do the new ones lmao.

Does anyone else thing they're really ugly? If your so "hardcore" that you want a guitar like that, then your really a poser (not directed at threadstarter)

*rant over*

I mean, tony iommi was the most metal dude in existence, and he plays a boring black sg. . .

Slipknots mick thompson has a BC Rich warlock. hes like one of the greatest guitarists. Maybe as Danno13 said its just only the more expensive ones, or just get his custom model. Comes with case, fret engravements, and so on

They sound ****. Cleans are just terrible.

Okay, that really is a stupid thing to say.

B.C Rich's Platinum Pro series and up are decent guitars, if slightly overpriced for what you get. The main selling point on them is the 'metal' body shapes that are advertised to kids. Thus, kids buy the crappy Bronze series guitars (the lowest line) and have bad experiences, or don't know any better.
#11
Their fine if you pay out. Get a Platinum/Deluxe series or a vintage one and it should be great. I have a Deluxe Warlock and she's beautiful sounding and to play. How much money do you have?

Just don't get a Bronze series.
#12
The B.C. Rich custom shop is AMAZING, but I hear they take a long ass time to get your custom to you. I also hear that they are idiots, but that was off the ESP forum so they might be a little biased.

not sure what one my mate has but it only cost £200 so I imagine its a bronze series. Another of my friends say its a good guitar, and he has a £1000 strat shipped from america!
Im not sure what to think now. Would it help if i sed im a rhythm player?

Can we just clear this up, ITS LOW END BC RICH THAT SUCKS!
Bronze, platinum: AVOID!
Platinum plus:Not worth it
NJ:Pretty danged good
Anything upwards:GOOD!

I personally like BC Rich shapes but i wouldnt want to fork out loads of money for a high end one, and just because Mick Thomson uses one, doesnt make them all good (Plus hes moved to ibanez now) nothing against slipknot, i love them but they can suck if you arent lucky
#15
People buy BC Rich's for there shape not there sound. To me I'd rather spend my money on a good guitar than can make a better sound than buy a BC Rich which says look at me I have a pointy guitar I'm cool.

Lol Mick is definately not one of the greatest guitarists, he is awesome but there are better, and hes stopped with BC Rich cos they were selling cheaper copies of his guitar for £249 i nearly got one but then heard about the shoddyness they can produce, his ibanez model is MUCH better
#18
i've played the cheap bc rich mick thompson warlock, was ok, nothing special. You can get better for the money.

Hence the reason he swapped to ibanez, cos of the fact they were making money of cheaper versions of his custom

Don't pay too much attention to what people on here say about BC rich's, they are good.
You pay a little more for the looks obviously but its worth it i reckon. the low ends are the same sort of quality as Squires, encores, etc. the higher ends are, well, higher end. Try one out, see if you like it.

Sorry to break it to you but they are quite good too. They just play **** music cos thats where the money is.

My friend bought a Kerry King Signature Warlock, only his has six strings and it's based off King's seven string model...And it cost him the same price as my SG.

His repsonse? "You paid that much for THAT guitar when you could have one like this? Shame."

Because we all know that there's nothing more to a guitar than looks, they all sound exactly the same...

Not only do decent guitars look good, but even metal fans would admit that a guitarist with a Les Paul has more respect than one with a BC Rich, you know straight away they're not blindly going for looks and that they know what they're doing.

"Why do UG'ers hate B.C.RICH so much, and is it worth gettin one?"

Because most UG'ers have most likely only ever played the cheapest guitars
which have BC Rich on the headstock. So after playing them they think they know all about BC Rich and thus have a valid opinion. The problem with this place is that theres alot of MG owning noobs who have just sussed out smoke on the water and they now think they are experts on all things guitar. Hence half of the inane posts on here.
Cheap BC Rich's are crap, as are most low end guitars with a name on the Headstock.
High end BC Rich's are great guitars as are high end Ibanez, ESP, Jackson etc. Please f**king realise the difference. Its a shame a great guitar company sold itself out and allowed such crap to have its name on it. BC Rich USA guitars were used by lots a great musicians and as one poster said the USA guitars of the 80's are excellent instruments and if you can get one for 3 or 400 quid then it will p*ss on a equivalent shecter etc for the money.
Hamer USA Chapparal Custom, scalloped fretboard & Sustainiac

I don't like 'em 'coz they're not flexible enough, they're just for playing metal and nothing else much.

A guitars shape doesn't determine what genre they are good for. Any solid body guitar made of a good wood with high output pickups will be good more metal, Just because BC Rich's 'Look' Metal doesn't mean that that's all they're good for.
