Hey all, when i was playing guitar and trying to figure out a song here on UG, it had drop C tuning. Also there is drop D tuning and stuff like that. With the drop C, for example, does that mean you drop all the strings 2 whole steps or just one string. Because my brother told me only one string so now im not to sure. I just need someone to confirm for me what it is. Thanks.

If the tuning says drop-something, it means that the E string nearest you is two semitones lower than the rest. So drop d is when you tune the e string nearest you to d and leave the rest of them. Drop c is tuning the e string 4 semitones down and the rest of them 2 semitones down.
