Do you think string companies will accept string recycling. Like once I take my old strings off would I be able to send them back to lets say Dean Markley in CA and recycle them? I want to call them but keep forgetting. I am interested in recycling strings and string packages because it could 1) help prices go down if the company can reuse them and 2) help a bit with the pollution problems.

Just think if half of the guitarist's in the world would recycle their strings.......

Well, I guess you could separate the various metals in the string, melt them down and make new ones. But the companies probably aren't too interested in it.

Melting them down and refining would probably override the cost of them buying new refined steel and making them.
