Can someone explain EQ pedals to me? I don't understand what they are for.

To put it simpler... they expand your bass, mid, and treble knobs down into smaller ranges of frequencies in order to allow you to adjust precisely. A 10 band eq will give you 10 different frequencies to change... instead of your common 3 (bass, mid, treble).

It shapes the tone that you have just like the EQ on your amp. EQ pedals have more more bands while amps tend to have 3 (Low, Mid, High). They can be used as mid boosts or for a solo boost.

As someone said, they do roughly the same thing as the Bass. Middle and Treble controls on your amp (assuming you have them) except with more precision, and with footswitch control, so say you want to switch from a middley rhythm sound to a much treblier one midsong, you can do it with a footswitch rather than running over to your amp and frantically adjusting the EQ.

Alright this is what I need for a solo boost. Someone said I should get an overdrive pedal for solo boost. Which would be better?
