A local music store is selling a Hot Rod Deville 212 for $499. I have to let them know soon if I want it and Im just wondering if thats a good deal. Im looking for an SRV/Clapton/Buddy Guy sound so I was thinking about buying a Blues Deluxe. But I figured this is $100 cheaper and im considering buying this.

The store is a respectable store and looks to be in good quality.

well your basically getting the amp at half it's retail price, which is definately good. did u notice any signs of age? keep in mind a lot of these models have been aroudn for a while so it's not like buying a used car, this amp could be 2 days old, or it could be 5 years old.

Fenders have a good track record - especially with their tube amps, if something was faulty in it, it wouldn't be too difficult to fix with aftermarket parts.

Plus it's a store, one thing before you buy it - ask them if the tubes in the amp are still in good condition cause a tube change can cost a bit of a money too, and that's not something you wanna do as soon as youve splashed out 500 bux.

Thanks for the advice. Ill definately ask about the tubes. My guitar teacher has a Deville 410 and its a great amp. Do you think the Deville is better then the Blues Deluxe? Im looking for a great clean and the overdrive isnt that important since I want to get a Tubescreamer eventually.

Im using an American Strat by the way.

They're really nice amps, have you tried it out yet?

And it'll sound feckin' immense with your Strat.

Im gonna call them up to make sure its still there.

And Ive played a 410 at my guitar teachers house and I really like it. But I havent ever messed with the settings so I dont know its full potential.

On a sidenote my teacher runs a PRS Custom 24 into a cheap digitech multieffects and then into that amp. Drives me crazy.

Argh! Just take it out of the chain when he's not looking, he'll go "Why does it sound so good?"

Try the Deville in the shop, see what you think of it, play on it for a while.
