I've been thinking about a ton of guitar sites that post their "best guitarists lists" and I just wanted to know if everyone had similar opinions or not.

This is my personal list (obviously very rudimentary)

Honorable Mention:

Angus Young Gary Moore Ted Nugent
Johhny Winter Allen Collins Dicky Betts
Billy Gibbons K.K. Downing Mark Knopfler
Ry Cooder Glen Tipton Eric Bell

10) Tony Iommi
9) Steve Howe
8) Carlos Santana
7) Alex Lifeson
6) Jeff Beck
5) Brian May
4) Duane Allman
3) David Gilmour
2) Ritchie Blackmore
1) Jimmy Paige

Come on. You know you want to post a reply. Just do it already.

People don't like Dave Mustaine because he created something that owned Metallica in just about every single aspect of thrash metal.

you said it yourself the

80s!!!!!! this is for the 70s

Eddie IS a 70s guitarist. Eddie was kicking Californias ass all through the late 70s until they got a deal, then released VH1. Eddie did stuff in the 70s nobody else was doing at the time.

The most talented on your list is probably Steve Howe, but my favorite is Jimmy PAGE.

Tomy Shaw of Styx. Think about what he did for that band... he helped them catapult to the height of their career.

You're right, I do. It's just a matter of how to word it on the lowest level of unass-ery(yeah, I just made a word up. And?) as possible.

I really do hope you don't think you're the first person the think this topic up here. That aside though, there is no such thing as "best guitarist". That aside as well, all these topics ever turn into is: "where is *insert guitarist* on your list??!?! He is teh best ever!!!1!!" and: "Why is *insert guitarist* on your list?? He is teh suxorzrozorz!".

These topics always get closed. Always. It's like clockwork, just like someone like me coming in and adding these pearls of wisdom.

Sorry to burst your bubble.
