it means you bend to that not like this-----12(14)--- you bend on the 12th to make it sound like the 14 of the same string

It's a ghost note. It's a note you don't pick, usually a ringing, slide or bend from a previous note. Check the prior notes to see the connection.
It could also be the amount that a note should be bended to, ie 12(14) means: bend the 12th up to 14th.
