The 5150 and the 6505 are the same amp and if cleans aren't that important then I'd say go for a 5150/6505

Agreed.

Or look into a used Marshall JCM800/900 off ebay.

WTF how is 6505 beating 5150? Having A/B'ed two stock examples i prefer the 5150, despite sounding almost identical.

Right, because you see loads of seasoned recording artists using 6505's....

Whatever floats your boat though.

I would also look into a Mesa Boogie, Vox, Krank, B-52, or Crate.

You even said yourself that they sound pretty much identical, Do you always buy gear because someone else uses it?

I said i A/B'ed them and while sounding almost identical i preferred the 5150. Thus I bought it. Why would i buy an amp that sounds worse than the other when they're both affordable? Don't bother picking random fights jackass.

And my point about the artists is that there is clearly a reason why the 5150 is more highly regarded than the 6505.

Because it's been around longer, artists won't just buy the new one if there's hardly any difference in tone just so they can say they have it.
