umm i think its like 50 someodd companies that make pickups. and each one have between 2 and 60 different pickups.

so its reall hard to tell for sure but if i had to take a guess id say in the nieborhood of 1200

so i cant really name them all.

i know emg makes like at least 80 different pickups

Just go to Musician's Friend.com and look at all the ones they have. That should be enough.

You get distortion from your amp. Not pickups. Some pickups handle it better, but for the most part, your amp determines your distortion.
