alright...so, i wrote this song to play at my sisters wedding and i need to make a solo. I already tried and it sucks horribly cause its not in the right key. so, the chord progression is:

Verse:
G D Am Em x3

chorus
C G D Em x2

i thought maybe it was G...but then i was like, how in the hell do i know? (im bad at that so far)

G major or E natural minor... The D chord contains the F sharp and is the only sharp in any of the chords and since G major/ E natural minor have an F sharp, the key is G major/ E natural minor.

Here are the notes from your chords:

G Major has G B D
D Major has D F# A
A Minor has A C E
E Minor has E G B
C Major has C E G

G Major Scale

G A B C D E F#

E Natural Minor

E F# G A B C D

You can use either one since the notes from the chord can be found in each of the scales.

If it sounds "wrong in G major" Use E minor, add a sharp 7 (harmonic minor) or add sharp 6th and 7th (melodic minor). You could use G major Pentatonic or E minor Pentatonic patterns too....

Thats about all I know Im not advaced with theory hope it helps though...
