i bought a neck for the guitar i'm making and it's a bolt on but how do i bolt it on? and the bolts that go through the neck plate do they go all the way through to the neck and hold it on? and what keeps the it on on the other side? like bolts.

It is a term of phrase. Bolt on necks generally screw on. But never ever fix it too tight until you are 200% sure that is where the neck needs to be. they are a bugger to get on and off, and it doesn't do the neck any good.
