keep in mind also that for 3x the price comes 10x the lifespan. (give or take)

it could be also that the makers of bass strings know that bassists are alot cooler and pickier about strings...:P

I've heard you can boil them as well (never attempted myself)...adding to the lifespan and sound once they get...old... (anyone else know much about this)?
plus it makes a nice stew...eww.

I've done that a few times- boiled them with a little vinegar too, and did some good for the tone/lifespan.

Lmfao, this is the best thread ever, aside from the fact that it involves a girl being harpooned through a tent.

Bass strings are harder to make than thinner guitar strings. Further more, because they're designed for lower octave sound, they are made much thicker and are much different to guitar strings. Most bassists are reluctant to change their bass strings because they last longer but they sure cause more problems intonation wise.

I use Slinky Hybrids, real nice tone. Slinkys are good for anything really. They dont have a specific quality that makes them specialist. I've had these about 4 months and they sound real sweet right now.

Well if you play rapecore like I do on guitar, and occassionally on bass, I once broke 3 strings at once with .011s on guitar, and I even managed to break a .100 on a bass!

Go me.

Finger for the bass btw, that's called pure skill, worship me!

^Big deal. I've broken my low B string with my thumb before. Breaking strings doesn't require skill, not brekaing them does. Your entire post is completely irrelevant anyways.

You don't argue with tubadude on Washburn-related matters, he flosses with the G string from a set of 0.12's y'know....and it's WOUND!

shush.

Congratulations, you had to shell out for another set of strings

If i wanted to break a string i could. But why would i want to. Anyways what do you want a real deep low tone or a more funky upbeat tone.

The government raised the price of bass strings because they don't want us to play bass, because The Man knows that if we do we'll work our fingers to the bone.He thinks that if our fingers are sore, it'll take longer for us to write our taxes, so he can spend it on propaganda campaigns, and expensive Italian suits to wear while they gather and mock the bassists of the world.
