how does slash make the ringing kind of sound if you get what I mean????? and I have a squire strat would that effect anything???????
#4
He uses top of the line gear. You wont get that sort of tone from a Squier.

See, I play the intro on the guitar, and his has a more kinda ring to it. Does my amp have to be set up a certain way????

Well for one he's IS Slash

As far as i know, he's just playing. It's his tone. You'll never get it to sound EXACTLY like Slash. Everyone sounds different just keep playing and you'll get it.

People don't like Dave Mustaine because he created something that owned Metallica in just about every single aspect of thrash metal.

I suspect it would affect eveything, yes.

1) If you are referring to the intro riff: Do you have a million dollar recording studio? If not, give up now.
2) If you are referring to any other part of the song, up to, and including, the intro riff: Do you have a humbucker in your guitar? If not, see the final sentence of 1). If yes, move on to 3)
3) Lots and lots of reverb. If you don't have a lot of reverb handy, then simply re-locate your guitar, amp etc, to the BIGGEST ROOM IN THE WORLD.

A 3000 dollar guitar, at least that much in amps, studio magic, and the fact that he will play better than most anyone can hope to get.

In all reality, its pretty hard to sound just like anything you hear in a CD, ignoring the fact that they play better than you, and have much nicer gear, the studio sound has been mixed and remixed, equalized by trained professionals, and other things that I'm not quite sure what they mean

Depending on your amp, just play with the EQ, and if you have reverb, a dash of that does nicely, generally, from what I know, slash scoops his mids, and, of course, play on the neck pickup
#10
actually you can get a really good sweet child tone from the neck single coil on full tone- ive got a gibson lp and for some reason it doesnt sound as close to slash's tone as the squire- weird eh? what amp are you using- also slash doesnt scoop his mids
*Blah blah blah my soul to take*

Treble - 5-6
Bass - 7-8
Midrange - 8
Gain - just enough so you can hear it
Tone (on guitar) - 4
*use only neck pickup

If I remember correctly, those settings get me pretty close to the tone for the intro
#14
guys he just asked about "the ringing sound" jeez stop discouraging. just flick the switch all the way up and crank the reverb

no, I never really learned what they did, cause the middle one does like nothing I've noticed, and the bottom one does a little to the sound.

Aaw, don't mock him/her/it, he/she/it's kinda cute.

OK, The one that reads the volume controls the volume (surprisingly enough. I was weirded out too when I first heard that but you get used to it), the tone knob closest to the strings controls the tone for the neck pickup and the tone control lower down controls the tone of the middle pickup. To switch to the neck pickup, flick the switch so that the little white plastic knobbly bit is pointing towards the neck of the guitar.

The throw away your Squier, buy a Les Paul, and you should get the right tone.

Might i suggest spending thousands on a guitar. A few more thousand on an amp, throw in a few effects. And pay slash to teach you personally.

Top of the line guitar, amp, and lessons from Slash: roughly $25,000
Asking what the knobs on a squire strat do: Priceless

Money can buy a lot of things. But for everything else, theres noobs.

or alternatively don't bother spending the money and instead worship someone with a tone that isn't somewhat similar to a sexually transmitted disease.
