Also musical meds, that club of yours about making UG better, I think it's fine as it is. It just always seems like there's problems because new ones will always come up but the mods take care of everything they can. Things are clearly fine as they are, things have changed since I've joined but the UG team has never failed. Sorry, I just love this place.

It's actually mostly directed at the pit, but I guess it's pointless. Theres only 6 members including me. I've kinda stopped venturing into the pit much less than I used to.

I doubt the new album will be a triple-release, they havent been working on it long enough.

Ok Brandon Flowers, then why wasnt there a backlash during the american tour?
I'm sure he filmed it there just because it wasnt america, not because it was their biggest gig....

C'mon, anyone notice how he always starts up a "beef" with another band when a killers record comes out?

Sorry to interrupt, and this is probably really late, but I found it slightly amusing.

"You have Green Day and 'American Idiot'. Where do they film their DVD? In England. A bunch of kids screaming 'I don't want to be an American idiot' I saw it as a very negative thing towards Americans. It really lit a fire in me. I just thought it was really cheap. To go to a place like England or Germany and sing that song - those kids aren't taking it the same way that he meant it. And he [Billie Joe Armstrong] knew it."

Kind of funny when you find it comes from Brandon Flowers who was in a band that for months everyone assumed were British and rarely did they actually address the issue.

The Killers are American? wow

I finally got Shenanigans for christmas , I haven't taken it for a spin yet, but I will in the next couple of days. I have all 10 now.

So explain to me again why they're sell-outs? Is it because you think they put eye-liner on to look like the ever hated emo or are you just a stupid kid who wants to hop on the bandwagon and look like someone with a valid opinion?

Now explain to me this; why would a band who has been successful for over 15 years need to look like an emo to sell records if they have already sold millions?

They were in a slump. Declining heavily in popularity. Billie Joe figured that by whining about American politics, kissing Bono's ass, and wearing a red tie, they could bounce back into popularity. And they did. Dookie was a gem when it was released. It was a middle finger to everything that stood in its' way. American Idiot? That album is just a mammoth ****ing road block that only those who can see its' flaws seem to be able to get around. They haven't "evolved". I know change when I see it, and Green Day is now in it for $ and fame. They keep up with "the new cool" instead of going their own way and taking a distinct path.

Their live shows have unbelievably changed too. A few of my friends dragged me out to one of their recent concerts. Gone were the fiery rants in between songs. Gone was Billie Joe's stage presence, which towered above the rest of his peers when the band was at its' height. All of this was now replaced by the sound of a thousand 14 year-old girls screaming at the top of their lungs and the same three or four chords they've been recently using to put themselves back in the spotlight. It sickens me.

Billie has not been whining about American politics. I could maybe see what you were saying if were not for the fact that they have done alot more than just whining. They have been doing stuff to improve the things they're whining about. They're actually doing something about it. So it's not whining, it's called having an opinion. Since when has he been kissing Bono's ass? Green Day hooked up with U2 to raise awareness to the plight of Katrina victims, and I think they did a kickass job. Because they were both such influential bands, their live show, which I watched, raked in many viewers and got the word out. The single The Saints Are Coming profits are going to help the victims. That goes back to the whole 'not whining, they're actually doing something about it thing'.

American Idiot in my opinion is a great album. It may be diffferent than the rest of their stuff, but which album isn't? None of their albums sound the same, which is something I admire about Green Day. They have never tried to repeat their sucesses with copies or ripoffs of previous sucessful albums. What is wrong with it? What kind of flaws did you find with it? I would love to know. If they were into for the money, wouldn't they have repeated a Dookie, knowing how much money and fame it generated? They didn't do that, they did something different, not knowing whether or not it would work. As for their new look, it's what they wanted. Check my previous posts, they had their reasons. Billie has always had that red tie, and the suits were part of the new campaign against Bush, they needed to be taken seriously. They can't stay teenagers forever.

They have always used the same three or four chords. You can ask them, they won't deny it. And they have new fans, so what? They are annoying as hell, sure. But they have always had teenie fans, even before they switched to a major label. They attracted them even while playing in Gilman. Billie is still a great frontman, one of the best out there now. He can't keep the exact same stage presence as before though, there's a difference between playing a hundred drunk teens in a punk club and 65,000 fans in a huge stadium, a big difference. He knows it and they perform accordingly. They still have kickass shows. That won't ever change.

It's good. Not as good as Kerplunk, Doodie, or Insomniac, but good. Green Day is probably my favorite song on the compilation, but I also really like Going to Pasalacqua, 16, and Paper Lanterns. I love the intro to I Want to Be Alone. I don't like their cover of Knowledge, though.

2. 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours
3. Dookie

I'm a massive Green Day fan. Have been since I was a small kid, but sadly I really got into them about the time of American Idiot. I used to listen to them when my sister wasn't home and I raided her cds when I was like 6 and I first heard Basketcase and was in love. Personally, my favorite is Nimrod. It's very diffrent to me, for some reason. There's hard times like Take Back and Platypus then there's Time of Your Life, which I think is very cool to have such variety. Billie Joe is a genius in my eyes. Mike Dirnt's songs are awesome too. Ha Ha Your Dead is my favorite. And Tre's.......well......he's crazy. I love Tre though

sorry. I ramble about Green Day all the time

If they do, though, they should be in it and it should be a total mockery of the album in a nice way, like the Holiday music video. I hope to God it doesn't in any resemble the JOS music video. I really do love Green Day but it seems that their old punk sound is starting to become more and more emo as the records go on - the American Idiot abum for example! - I have no problem with this but, i just thought that they would make their own way instead of followiing a rising fashion. Take a listen to soem of the lyrics and listen properly - u'll see what i mean!
