howdy, im plannin on buyin a PA system cuz i got everything i need for a jam room (guitars, bass, amps, drums) except somthin for vocals. We have a standard sized jam room not connected to the house and i need to know what kind of system to get. i need a good one for about $500 and i need to know what all to buy cuz im new at the vocal stuff. We play all classic rock if that helps.

theres not alot to PA's unless you want to get REALLY picky with your vocal sound.

my band had a 10 year old peice of crap and it worked great.

get a minimum of 500w or else it will feedback constantly. We play everything through a mixer which works great and no pa needed.

^But wtf do you plug the mixer into!?

I run my vocals through my Fender Bassmans "Normal" channel. 50 watts tube power.

A basic simple system consists of: Mics, mic cables, a powered mixer, speaker cables, and speakers.

A powered mixer will be a lot easier for you since the mixer (inputs, EQ...etc.) and the power amp are all in one unit. Other than that...its pretty straight forward.

Oh, I was thinking a line-level output mixer.

If it's got the power amp in it, you're good.
