I need help deciding on a new amp, so far I've looked at a Roland Cube 15, Line 6 Spider 2 15 Combo Amp, and a Fender Frontman 15G Guitar Combo Amp. What do you think? I play mostly rock/metal and right now I'm playing on a Kalamazoo Model 2.

dont get a line 6 spider , they will break down in 2 years, i know 5 people that have had them and the all crapped out. go with a fender , or look at tech 21
my gear=
<ludwig 7 piece set, 6 cymbals>
<dw 3000 double kicks>
<ibanez sz>
<fender stratacoustic>
<yamaha synth>
<godin freeway 4 bass>
<digitech rp80>
<custom 100w tech 21 amp>
<fender frontman 15b amp>

want a good amp? go with a behringer half stack, 4x12 150 watts and 50 built in digital effects, price tag is around 800 bucks tho.

Why hasn't anyone suggested the Roland Cube? It's the best of the three, perfect for rock and metal.

The fender ahs a good clean sound, but not a good distortion. Cube is the way to go.

I would invest a little bit more in a good amp. You don't wanna get an amp that you're gonna want to replace in about 1 year, I made that mistake.
#8
I have a distortion pedal so I don't need good distortion.

It still wouldn't be a bad idea to get a good distorted amp, a good pedal does not make up for a ****ty amp.

Thanks, then I'll go with the cube 15

You should definately go with the Roland, the Spider IIs are really crappy and so are the Fender Frontman series.
Would you die for Dethklok? I know I would. PM me... If you've got the balls.

The Fender Frontman are awful, and the G model doesn't have reverb. Get a Roland, or Orange or Vox Valvetronix. Your amp is just as important to the sound of your gitar as the guitar itself, so you don't want something sh*t. BTW, Line 6 Spider II's are cr*p. They are just like big toys and the only time one sounded good was - in fact, they've never sounded good. Way too artificial and processed sounding.

I play through someone else's Cube 15 quite a lot, they're probably the best of that bunch, but they do start to sound a tad harsh once the volume gets past about halfway, the Cube 30's sound a lot better.

I have 5 amps - the Frontman is NOT awful - I have a 15R and with the right pedals it sounds great - every amp has a sweet spot - just experiment and you can find it (except the Marshall MG I had - it was pure crap). The Fender is surprisingly spunky for the price (I paid $40 on Ebay for my 15R) and once I played with it a bit I find the drive channel sucks but the clean channel turned up has a nice bite and with my Zoom Pedal I can actually dial in some classic sounds - also I love the Fender Reverb! I miced the Frontman with a good Mic (AudioTechnica) and with my computer as my mixing board came up with a great sound using the little Frontman.
Now running an Eleven Rack with Pro Tools 10.3.3 - it's amazing and I'm having ball with it - worth every penny. PT 10 is tops IMO and the Eleven Rack is a work of art!
