What are some good economy picking patterns??

I've only been playing for like 2 months and I'm trying to learn some cool economy picking stuff.

Lol. It's this Steve Vai technique. It's a combination of sweep and alternate picking.

It's really cool.

no not at all man, that's really impressive at least in my opinion, it took me awhile to just get alternate picking down (not even perfect it).

but then again, i didnt have a teacher, so i dont really know what's possible in an amount of time

You just have to take it slow. even slower than you think.

Use a metronome always, and buy the John Petrucci book I have. It helps a lot.

lol...i'm not a noob.

oh gawwwwd... metal enthusiasts are really warping newbie's minds!

just do this, real simple, tricky to master: everytime you pick, do it opposite of what you just did. up, down, up, down etc UNLESS you just did a down stroke then are going to hit a higher string, then use a down stroke again. Like if you go from the A string to the G string.

Don't even worry about sweeping. It's not even a real conventional picking thing anyway..
