I know this has been done many times before but for some reason I value the opinion of UGers.

So anyway,

he's considering an Epiphone Firebird

http://www.epiphone.com/default.asp?ProductID=264&CollectionID=3
or an Ibanez Iceman IC400 or IC200

http://www.ibanez.com/guitars/guitar.asp?model=IC400

The ibanez is a bit out of his preferred budget but he is willing to buy it if it is really good. The kind of bands he usually plays are Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Alice in Chains, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers...

Please help.

Thanks.

Tell him to go to a shop and play a load of guitars.

And tell him to look at some Les Pauls.

I told him to go play them. And he said he didn't want a les paul.

that Firebird just doesn't look right to me, i like the firebird VII, but i like the iceman better out of the two

Firebirds suck, I dont know aboutt he epiphone but I tried using the tailpiece vibrato on the Gibson Custom Shop Version and it went out of ****in' tune. Go for the Iceman.

Ibanez Icey. They probably sound sexy and the Rhythm guitarist in Kiss plays them.

But If I would go with something else I would go for a Fender Fat-Strat or Telecaster for those styles.

Because you ****in used it the wrong way. Those bridges aren't built to take big abuse. Just subtly.

And because you touch yourself at night

The Iceman has pretty high output pickups I think, so I'd go with the Firebird for the stuff he likes.
Dickless.

I'd take the Iceman. More versatile and generally better tone.

Firebirds aren't cool unless they're the original non-reverse ones. These look and sound like Explorers with downs syndrome.

I like firebirds, they're pretty comfortable to me. I played an Epi one before, and it felt pretty nice, though not amazing. Maybe a fat strat for that kind of music he likes?

3 or 4 of the bands he mentioned play with single coils, make him try a Strat.
