what effects are used in Primus's My Name Is Mud? specifically the one on the guitar at the very beginning (0:11). is it just large amounts of distortion?

TBH i wouldnt spend your money on a phaser, you dont use it a hell of a lot, and unless you plan to use it like every time you play I just wouldnt spend the money on that extra little effect (unless youvve got **** loads of cash to spend then go right ahead be my guest :P) But your call

Get a EHX Small Stone Phase Shifter

It's the most versatile Phaser I've ever used, the best I've used was an older MXR Phaser. It only had one knob and sounded amazing

I concur with Apok..
The MXR is an awesome Phaser..
It can either be used as a very unique effect to make something completely out there,
or it can be used to color your tone.
either way, its a cool little pedal...
