I wrote this song for my friend for graduation, but didn't actually finish writing it until like last week, and I got my friend to help me with the recording (he played acoustic and sang some harmonies). The friend I wrote it for is kinda like rednecky and likes country music, so there's a little bit of those themes in this song.

I'd love any and all critiques, and I swear sometime I'm going to listen to the songs of people who comment on mine.

It's a little bit different from some of my other stuff, but I think I like it.

Here are the lyrics:

Gonna buy an F-150
Well I think you're pretty crazy
Maybe I meant crazy pretty
Either way, you're insane
Gonna buy a new Tacoma
Gonna drive it where I wanna
And I wish that you were coming
With me as I overtake this train

I heard about the Bertolets
I guess I ain't seen nothing yet
You're a-grooming dogs come fall
A girl like you, I seen it all
What went on inside your head
We'll never know until we're dead
You was just a pretty girl
With sapphire eyes and golden curls

And I heard that you were moving
To the cold streets of LA
And I know this train's a-coming
But it won't be here today
Trains like these need alibis
And this one goes a long, long way

Cardboard boxes on the floor
Where children make believe they're poor
Stealing horses, growing wings
And finding places they can sing
Knowing you has landlocked me
And cowboys never set to sea
Though you are a bit insane
Won't you help me overtake this train

And I heard that you were moving
To the cold streets of LA
And I know this train's a-coming
But it won't be here today
Trains like these need alibis
And this one goes a long, long way

This train is growing fast and crazy
Get me something with some speed
Well I know you're pretty crazy
Someone crazy's what we need
Every cowboy needs a girl
With sapphire eyes and golden curls
And every lover needs a hand
That holds and scolds and understands

And I heard that you were moving
To the cold streets of LA
And I know this train's a-coming
But it won't be here today
Trains like these need alibis
And this one goes a long, long way

Last I heard that you grew wings
Found a place where you can sing
Down in California
I know for sure you took the train
You know it goes a long, long way

I don't like your voice too much on this song. I think the electric guitar should be more constant, doesn't need to be loud, just always there.
