Mando Diao to me is the band that "steals" from others quite obviously. Nearly every song reminds me of something I´ve allready heart.
Nevertheless I do like them a lot, cause it´s still hard to integrate "stolen parts" into a song.
Anyway they admit to do so.

I´d like to know which songs you relate to mando diao songs both inspiration and stolen parts.

For Example "Mr. Moon" is inspired by Neil Young´s "Hey Hey, My My"

Or "This dream is over" from "Hurricane Bar" sounds like "Let´s spend the night together" from the Stones

"Kingdom and Glory" varies the theme of "Boys don´t cry" from The Cure

An example for a stolen part is: The line "At the end there´s a light" from "TV and me" really sounds like the beginning of a verse from "Where the wild roses grow"
from Nick Cave and Kilie Minouge
though this might have happened accidentally.

There are a lot more but I don´t want to take all the space.

Of course you can mention other bands, too

I give you another one:

Imagine the song "So Fresh, So Clean" by Outkast
The Chorus goes like:

"Ain't nobody dope as me I'm dressed so fresh so clean
(So fresh and so clean clean)"

The part "Ain´t nobody dope as me" has the same melody as "My girlfriend´s taken all my dough" from Kink´s "Sunny Afternoon" verse.

Their are only eleven notes. Good luck writing something completely unoriginal.

It seems like UG is full of those Caveman Metalheads

You mean original.
whatever.
It´s not about to write songs that don´t relate to any other stuff.
That´s sort of impossible and not natural.
But I thougt it´s quite interessing to learn how bands with good songs process their input, on purpose or not.
If you write songs this could be helpful.
And 12 notes´s enough

true. mando diao does neither steal nor write less originally than any other band. you ALWAYS find something that sounds similar.
and mando diao is still more creative/original than many other bands i know. and even if they stole, it sounds great. better than the songs that were mentioned as the "original".

That´s it.
But what are these "originals"?
That´s what I´d like to discuss.

"Hail the sunny days" - "All you need is love" and another one
You can sing along in the chorus.

And it that case the "original" is not worse.

lol. all you need is love? i've never noticed that! but i'm gonna listen to it later and see. all you need is love is not my thing though^^

It´s not from the beginning of the chorus.
After "ev´rybody gets" you can sing "all you need is love, love" but not the last line ("love is all you need")

Anyway "Jeanette" is very familiar but I can´t tell.
