know any way to make audacity play the tracks that have been recorded previously while you record another track?

Go to File/Preferences/Audio I/O

Check the box that says "Play other tracks while recording new one"

^ that should work. one problem is that you dont want to overload audacity. sometimes if the program tries to do too much than it actually slows down what you record, as well as not lining it up perfectly. to compensate for this, i just export my tracks as wav files and play them in another soundplayer when recording. probably dont always need to, but i find that it does help sometimes if you are having problems. then you can import all the tracks to one place (ie. one instance of audacity) and line them up there.
