Depends if you want diatonic thirds, or chromatic thirds.

For exapmple, if you're in C major, and you want to harmonize with B, using chromatic thirds, you would get D#. To stay in the key of C, you would want to use D.

B C C# D D#
.\/..\/..\./..\./
m2 M2 m3 M3
(chromatic)

CDEFGABCD......
..............\../
3 note difference (B-C-D)

OR if you know your chords, look at the B major chord...

135= BD# F#
