hey guys, I just put on some new strings on my acoustic and the box says "light", but they feel so much heavier than all my other strings, and hard to hold down. I'm not really familiar with the measurements so ill post them and can someone tell me if they are heavy or light or in between or what according to your standards. They are Martin strings, it says 80/20 bronze, and also .012- .054. Thanks for any input.

12s are standard on acoustic guitars. Anything much lighter than 11s, and the sounds from the strings won't transfer as well to the rest of the guitar, and the tone will suffer greatly.

Gear:
Partscaster/Tele into a bunch of pedals, a Maz 18 head, and a Z Best cab.

11- Light
12- Medium
13- Medium/Heavy

That's what 90% of brands classify the acoustic gauges at.

i dunno about 90%... a good bit of them call 12's "light". hence your case. ignore the descriptions, just go by string guage.
