How does this guy hold a note for so long, with vibrato and feedback or something,
How does he do it??
#5
He use a lot of gain and sometimes he play the note more than one time but is not that noticeable (ie: Octavarium ending, Goodnight kiss solo).
Besides being a guitar player, I'm a big fan of the guitar. I love that damn instrument. Steve Vai

Dammit, that's what I was going to say!

but the real question is how does santana do that on the high "g" notes in europa?
much less distortion, very clean, my money is on a sustainer pedal, or some effect looper.

Finding the "sweet" spot in front of the amp.

Good gain + fingers that can crush cities doing vibrato work = endless sustain.

You sure it's not his pickups that were handwired by Tony Blair?

I think he uses the same one as the dude from Slipknot, but he actually plays his guitar well when he does it, as opposed to the guy from Slipknot who just hits a single note and throws knive at the audience.

Delay? He's holding the note, not echoing it. Jackass.

Because the harder you press on the strings or the harder you play them, the longer your notes hold. Jackass.

No, he does not.

The only 'sustain' an amplifier can provide is feedback. The amp just receives the sound signals. The guitar itself is where sustain comes from. The wood, neck construction, and general quality of production (Which is high considering he's rich), plus the strings and even more importantly the quality, output, and overall sensitivity of the pickups - these are the things you'll want if you want good sustain. Plus gain, of course. That's obvious. Jackass.

I'd like to think I've made a difference here.

just buy an ebow....

when it comes to practicing, i would spend about 63 hours a day, and to do this I have to time warp by playing over 4000 notes per second
