I have an Ibanez RG1570, which I am upgrading the pickups to a Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker on the bridge and a SH-1 '59 Model in the neck. I play mostly hard rock and some alternative. Anyone else here use that combination? Thoughts? Comments??

If you play hardrock and alternative why are you using a dimebucker? You'd get a better tone with a JB on the bridge.

Even for metal i would get the JB for the bridge....didnt Dave Mustaine use the JB/Jazz combo for ever before he got those signature actives?

Yes, the JB is an awesome pickup. And so is the jazz.

i use the dimebucker 59 combo, it's pretty sweet, the dimebucker has a little too much highs, but it does fine
if you'd believe me i'd tell you everything

no they aren't. and the dimebucker, as timi says, is shite.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

The only seymour duncan i like is the 59, outside of that Seymour Duncan makes some of the ****tiest pickups EVER.

Try rio grande. Crunchbox, and something a little vintage sounding in the neck.

What amp do you have and what's your price range? There are a lot of better pickups you could get for the bridge, even from Seymour Duncan. If you want to sound like Dimebag, get some Bill Lawrence's

I use dual Roland KC-150 AMPs and a Boss GT-8 multi-effects pedal. I am using the Roland because it's FRFR and sounds better when using a GT-8. My budget it pretty open honestly. I could get anything as long as it sounds great.

My budget is WIDE open. I have plenty of cash. I don't want to get something that is a waste of money, but I should be able to afford anything that is worth the price.

you probably could afford to get a new amp with a wide open budget

Yes, I sure could if I was looking at getting a new AMP. But I'm not, I'm looking to get new pickups....

I would look into the Super Distortion by DiMarzio, PG had those in both the neck and bridge, but i would get one just for the bridge, then something lighter for the neck

but a new AMP might be a better use of your funds (i dunno, I'm not familiar with your amp)

I can understand that. I am using dual Roland KC-150's which are great when used with the GT-8 (or really any modeler). If I was playing straight into a tube amp then I could see where that would make a difference.

The pickups on my RG1570 just seem so weak and I am looking (like most people do when getting a 1570) to put in new ones to give me a solid boost. I have heard great things about Bill Lawrences.

Checl out the Dimarzio pickup selector link on their website. It might give you some ideas.
First question the player, then question the gear
